Turkey Legal Design Summit

Turkey Legal Design Summit

The Legal Design Summit consists of interactive sessions and workshops based on how to make different aspects of the law more effective and easier for everyone to understand using the Human Centered Design approach. Experts in the field will explain the global evolution of legal design to facilitate access to justice through an open legal culture, and how legal systems, services and technologies are being reshaped by design. The Legal Design Summit offers its participants an inclusive and rich program with speeches, workshops, presentations and panels on various areas where law and design are closely linked. By combining law and design, Legal Design aims to make the applicable legal rules more understandable for non-lawyers and to simplify the legal process. Legal design is used as an umbrella term to cover information design, product design, service design, organizational design, and systems design. The legal design process aims to incorporate design elements into contracts, legal provisions, legal processes, and even legal education. ATÖLYE and Istanbul Legal Hackers are organizing the Turkey Legal Design Summit on 13-14 February 2021 as an online event to create a space for discussion on legal design, bring together international experts and local pioneers, and make interdisciplinary cooperation between law and design more visible. Istanbul Legal Hackers is the Istanbul chapter of the legal hacker community that focuses on the intersection of law and technology. Legal Hackers is a global movement that supports an open legal culture, bringing together designers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, researchers, students, academics, and technology experts looking for innovative solutions at the intersection of law and technology. Legal Hackers is a local community run by volunteers.

Through free, all-inclusive local meetings, hackathons, and workshops, legal hackers identify issues and opportunities where technology can improve and inform legal practice, and where law, legal practice, and policy can adapt to rapidly changing technologies. We will discuss how we try to achieve systemic impact through our legal design projects: 💎 measuring KPIs (always!) with a continuous improvement mindset, leveraging knowledge from each project to the next, creating open source design tools to enable citizens to better understand and exercise their rights, Working closely with government and public institutions 🚀, 💪 which develop user-centric products that 💫 can be widely used by the legal community and beyond.
